The Centre for Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries, commonly known as CBI, recently announced further plans to intensify its engagement in Pakistan.  The CBI works as an agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and has over 40 years experience in supporting producers and exporters from developing countries to get a foot hold in the EU.

In April, 2012 CBI’s newly appointed country manager Mr. Don van Luijn visited Pakistan and held talks with TDAP, SMEDA, ASF and PHDEC including members from the business community. Here Mr. van Luijn pointed out the huge untapped potential for products in home decoration and home textiles as well as the agriculture and food processing sectors for exports to the EU.CBI’s two new Export Coaching Programs (ECP) made available to assist companies in obtaining a firm and lasting position on the EU markets for Home Decoration/Textile products and Sustainable Food Ingredients. CBI is currently allowing companies to apply for these programs which are set to begin in May and June, respectively.
