ISLAMABAD: Vegetable exports from the country during first 8 months of current financial year witnessed 4.72 percent increase as compared to the exports of corresponding period of last financial year.
During the period from July-February 2015-16, about 430,056 metric tonnes of fresh vegetables of different kinds worth $126.786 million were exported as compared to 417,995 metric tonnes valuing of $121.066 million of same period of last year.
According the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), on month-on-month basis, vegetable exports recorded negative growth of 26.89 percent in month of January 2016 as about 77,841 metric tonnes of fresh vegetables worth $24.650 million were exported, which were recorded at 111,591 metric tonnes valuing $33.715 million of same month last year.
However, during the period under review, fruit exports from the country decreased by 5.78 percent as it came down from 434,512 metric tonnes valuing $319.548 million to 518,798 metric tonnes worth $399.150 million, it added.
