Sindh plans modern agriculture demonstration zone
ISLAMABAD: The Sindh government, in collaboration with China, plans to set up an Agriculture Demonstration Zone at Tandojam with an aim to introduce local farmers with new agriculture techniques, an official of the Planning Commission.
The official said that the introduction of new system would result in improvement of their current cultivation pattern and marketing system of their produce.
“We have carved out a strategy for the agriculture sector aiming to ensure food security, providing economic returns to growers and reducing poverty in rural areas,” he said and added that the proposed project is in line with objectives and is expected to improve existing cultivation and marketing system ultimately resulting into higher incomes for growers.
The official said that the Sindh government has submitted programme component-II of the project seeking approval of feasibility study on the proposed project. The Sindh government has also signed a memorandum of understating with the Yagling Agriculture Demonstration Zone, Yangling, China for establishment of the proposed zone along Chinese pattern.

According to the document submitted by the Sindh government, an area of around 13,675 acres has been identified. In addition to it, eight theme parks would also be established.
Under the plan, a modern agriculture innovation park measuring 131.78 acres would be set up for exhibiting latest technology and new systems related to agriculture. Moreover, an international collaboration park, modern agribusiness incubation park, seeding business park, science and research park, standardized manufacturing park, agriculture food processing park and a logistic park would also be established.
