Second Pakistan Edible Oil Conference (PEOC) is scheduled to be held on January 21, 2017 in Karachi. CEO PEOC Rashid Jan Mohammad said that Pakistan organized its first conference in February this year, which attracted participants from oils, fats and oilseed industry from across the world.
Speaking at a meeting of Pakistan Soap Manufacturing Association (PSMA), he said that with the success of first conference this event had been earmarked by global edible oil players as must attend annual affair. “It facilitates the perfect networking platform for the exchange of ideas amongst the delegates who hail from different parts of the world,” he added.
He said that the conference was not only acknowledgement of the importance of Pakistan market by international players but it will also give recognition to domestic stakeholders who have been supporting Pakistan market for decades.
“PEOC will prove to be a strong vehicle to project Pakistan not only as a consistent buyer of edible oil, oil seeds but will also give a strong message to the global markets to look at Pakistan as most logistic friendly country in the region,” he added.
To a question, he said that Pakistan was the third largest importer of edible oil in the world with import of around 3. 5 million tonnes. Chairman PSMA Abdullah Zaki said that members of PSMA will participate in the upcoming conference for the first time. He said that members of PSMA were one of the largest consumers of edible oil.
