A four members’ delegation of PFVA led by the Chairman Waheed Ahmed All Pakistan Fruit & Vegetable Exporters Importers and Merchants Association (PFVA)held a meeting with the Consul General (C.G.) of the Republic of Indonesia (Karachi – Pakistan), his Excellency Mr. Hadi Santoso today.
Chairman – PFVA briefed the C.G. about role of the Association, it’s vision and extensive efforts in enhancement of export of Fruit & Vegetable. He further highlighted huge trade potential that existed between the two countries in this specific sector which has not yet been fully exploited.
It was shared with the C.G., while exporters as well trade delegations of this sector from Pakistan frequently visit to Indonesia, the reciprocal leaves much to be desired for promotion of trade between the two brother Muslim countries.
Strict adherence to desired Quarantine protocols & concerted efforts by the PFVA in raising safety standards of Agri- produces (Fruit & Vegetable) of Pakistan in accordance with International requirements and close liaison with highly reputed Agri-research Universities for the purpose of R & D to consistently improve quality was also briefed.
The recent visit of Indonesian quarantine team to the Kinnow growing area and satisfaction expressed by the team on safety compliance was also shared with C.G. Seeking authenticity of the news that Indonesia is considering to ban import of Pakistani Kinnow, the C.G. in response , assured that Indonesia will continue importing Kinnow from Pakistan & there was no truth in this “baseless” news at all !
The C.G. acknowledged the effective role of the PFVA in the enhancement of export and thanked PFVA delegation for the meeting. It was assured by his Excellency that he would encourage export of Pakistani fruits directly to Indonesia, eliminating third party / country in between and facilitate Indonesian buyers to visit Pakistan more frequently besides trade delegations for the promotion of trade of fruits & vegetables.
It was also agreed that PFVA delegation would have more regular meetings in future with the C.G. to discuss the progress of the points discussed in meetings and to further promote trade between the two countries . The C.G. accepted invitation gladly extended by the Chairman to visit the PFVA and meet with exporters in near future.
