Lahore – Pakistan this year is going to have a carry forward wheat stock of 5 million tonnes entering into third year due to negligence of policy makers of the country.
This was stated by Dr Bilal Sufi, Chairman Flour Milling Industry Committee of FPCCI. He said in Punjab the situation was worst where last year carry forward was 2.1 million tonnes and this year it is going to be 2.25 million tonnes.
The leaders of the industry in FPCCI said that carry forward of such a huge quantity entering third year will have detrimental consequences on Punjab economy.
The incidental charges, less storage facilities rotten wheat and no exports will cause Punjab total loss of 33 billion rupees.
He said the disposal of wheat was very poor although mills played their positive role by lifting wheat according to normal routine. He further said there were flaws in policy which caused this damage to the economy.
