The Punjab Agriculture Department has advised wheat farmers to check weather predictions appearing in the print and electronic media during the harvest season of their crops.
“Farmers should harvest their crops in accordance with the weather and recommendations of the Agriculture Department,” said a department spokesman on Wednesday. “Although recent rains in different districts of the province made a positive impact on the farmers, now the harvesting season is approaching fast and rain or strong wind could damage their crops.”
The advisory also urged them to harvest their crops when it was fully mature and dry. “Fields should be kept clean of weeds and only those portions of crops should be kept as seeds which are free of any kind of disease,” he added.
