Indus likely to be in low flood at Tarbela, Kalabagh and Chashma today: FWC

As the regular monsoon rains are starting today (Friday) the Flood Warning Centre(FWC) has said that River Indus is likely to be in low flood with a discharge of 2,40,000 to 2,70,000 cusecs at Tarbela, Kalabagh and Chashma barrages. The water discharge at Kalabagh would be between 2,20,000 cusecs and 2,60,000 cusecs and at Chashma between 2,10,000 cusecs and 2,55,000 cusecs on Friday.

The FWC further said that water level in river Kabul is also rising and the river would be at medium flood stage with a discharge of 85,000 to 95,000 cusecs at Nowshera. Similarly, it forecast that river Jhelum would also be in low flood at Mangla with a discharge of 60,000 cusecs to 90,000 cusecs. It said that river Chenab would be in low to medium flood at Marala, Khanki and Qadirabad with a discharge of 1,00,000 cusecs.

Forecast for today:

Fairly widespread thunderstorm/rain with isolated heavy falls is expected over North- Northeast Punjab and Kashmir. Scattered dust thunderstorm/ rain is expected over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, South Punjab, Northeast Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan. Isolated thunderstorm/rain is also expected over southeast Sindh. Weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the country on Thursday. However isolated rain/dust-thunderstorm occurred in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar divisions, upper Punjab and Kashmir as follows: Kotli=42,Palandri=29,Kotnaina=28,Rawalakot=26,Murree=23,Kakul=19,Hattian Bala=18, Phulra=17,Sehrkakota=16,Sialkot(Cantt=15&Airport=Trace), Balakot=14, Kund=13,Oghi and Malam Jabba=09(each), Daggar=08, Saidu Sharif=07, Shakargarh=05, Daulatnagar=04, Zafarwal&Chattarkallas=03(each),Dratian and Bhakkar=02 (each),Garhi Dopatta=01.
