Punjab Agriculture Minister Dr Farrukh Javed has said increasing the production of small growers is the target of the present government, which is formulating all its policies after getting feedback from the farmers.
He said benefit of labour of the agriculture scientists would reach to growers only if it delivers benefit in the field. He said that Kissan package announced by the government to assist growers is a big step and many more such steps are needed.
Dr Farrukh Javed was addressing at an inaugural session of two-day ‘Kissan Mela’ here on Wednesday. Director General Agriculture (Research) Dr Abid Mahmood, Director Wheat Ayub Research Institute Dr Makhdoom Hussein and a large number of growers were present on this occasion.
The Minister stated that the Chief Minister Punjab had approved distribution of 100,000 bags of high quality wheat seed free of cost among the growers which was being implemented at a fast pace.
He advised the growers to get their soil tested from soil fertility institute free of cost to get better production and use pesticides and fertiliser according to the need of the land. He said that the government had announced a package of Rs 341 billion which would be distributed amongst the growers in a transparent manner.
