LAHORE – Punjab Halal Development Agency (PHDA) Chairman Justice Khalil-u-Rehman Khan has said that the approval of Pakistan Halal Authority Bill 2015 from National Assembly is a landmark achievement for the Halal business development sector and it will boost up the Halal industry export around the globe.
He was giving his views on the approval of authority here in Lahore.
He said that after the establishment of Authority, it will regulate the Halal products import and export and it will define the procedures and will implement them to inspect the products as per Sharia rules.
It will also increase the Halal business volume to facilitate the local farmers and business community.
He further said all countries having export of Halal products had established their Halal regulations bodies many years ago but here in Pakistan it was totally neglected area.
Then two years ago, Punjab Halal Development Agency took initiative and developed the by-laws for the Authority and now the National Assembly has approved the Bill which will be tabled in the senate after the approval from upper house, Authority will be established.
He further requested the government to accelerate the remaining formalities regarding the establishment of Authority so that it would start working and Pakistan may get its lion’s share from international Halal Market.
