The Met Office has asked the growers to stop irrigating wheat crop as more rains are likely in agriculture plains of the country till Mar 20. It asked the farmers to stop irrigating wheat crops, which is at a shooting stage, in agriculture plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh. It also urged the growers to remove weeds to help the standing crops attain maximum growth.
It said that farmers should also ensure field sanitation and spraying prophylactic fungicidal to safeguard vegetables crops. Heavy rain is expected in most parts of Punjab including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala & Sargodha divisions till Mar 20.
Light to moderate is expected in Bahawalpur, D.G Khan, Faisalabad and Multan divisions till Mar 14 and at scattered places in the province from Mar 17 to Mar 20. In Sindh, mainly dry weather is expected with light rainfall in Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur and Mirpurkhas divisions from Mar 13 to Mar 19.
Widely cloudy weather is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with light to moderate rainfall and light snowfall over the hills in Bannu, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan and D.I Khan divisions over the period. In Balochistan largely cold weather is expected to prevail with light to moderate rain and light snowfall over the hills in Quetta, Zhob, Sibbi and Kalat till Mar 14 and from Mar 17 to Mar 19.
Weather in Gilgit-Baltistan is expected to remain mainly cold and cloudy with light to moderate rain and with light snowfall over the hills in Gilgit, Skardu and Hunza. Widespread rain-thunderstorm and snowfall over the hills are expected in Muzzaffarabad, Rawalakot and Kotli and other parts of Kashmir.
