PESHAWAR: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) appointed Ahmad Jawad as chairman of the Regional Standing Committee on Horticulture Exports of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa for 2016, a statement said on Saturday.
Jawad who brings his vast experience in the sector of horticulture also served before in the FPCCI as chairman of the standing committee, where he actively lobbying the potential of country horticulture in diplomatic and government circles.
Jawad said KP’s economy is based on agriculture and as such it is obligatory upon the government to provide basic infrastructure facilities to exporters of fruits and vegetables, but lack of required facilities is hampering the export potential, which is unfortunate.
“Being as a chairman of the standing committee, my first preference will be to start close liaison with the provincial agriculture ministry and the planning commission, so that necessary measures may be taken for the real transformation of KP horticulture sector,” he added.
