The Punjab Secretary Livestock and Dairy Development Naseem Sadiq has said that the provincial government is making all out efforts for the development of livestock farming as growth of this sector will result in overall growth of GDP.
He was speaking at a two-day International Livestock, Dairy and Poultry Congress started at Lahore Expo Center here on Wednesday. Organised by Pakistan Veterinary Medical Association, the expo was participated by local and foreign companies.
Secretary livestock Naseem, while addressing the inaugural session said that Congress would be helpful for the growth of livestock, dairy and poultry industry in Pakistan. He said that CM Punjab envisions a prosperous farmer by providing all out facilities to this sector.
He said that a large component of Punjab’s population depends on farming and the government wants to guarantee their prosperity by providing them facilities associated with the livestock and dairy sector.
President PVMC Dr Arshad said that PVMA and PVMC are working for the betterment of Livestock and Dairy sector and it is obvious that the sector is benefiting from the steps taken by these organisations. “Pakistan is the fourth largest country in the livestock and dairy production in the world and no one can stop this sector progressing provided right direction is followed,” Arshad added.
Chief organiser ILDPC Dr Muzammil Shah said that the party’s success is the result of teamwork and it will be improved in coming years. “We want to attract more investors from within the country and abroad.”
People from different walks of life including, veterinary doctors, students, scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, farmers and civil society visited the expo on first day.
