Use of Antiviral Drug (Amantadine) in Commercial Poultry-An Alarm for Future Strategy on Control of Avian Influenza in the Country June 6, 2012 9:50 am

Use of Antiviral Drug (Amantadine) in Commercial Poultry-An Alarm for Future Strategy on Control of Avian Influenza in the Country

Dr Muhammad Ayaz BACK GROUND:     Antibiotics are generally not effective against viruses simply because they do not have their own metabolic mechanism and that viruses are usually intra cellular organism because they have to utilize the machinery of host cell for their proliferation. Very few chemicals are effective against viruses as virucidal. The most important to mention here two groups: 1.  Amantadine and Remantadine. 2.  Oseltamivir and Zenamiver. High-Risk Strain Of Bird Flu Surfaces In Japan

The Japanese government confirmed the country’s first outbreak of a high-risk bird flu in three years, though it stressed that there was no evidence the disease had spread beyond chickens. The report came two weeks after Hong Kong reported the first human case there since 2003. The announcement from Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries came after a farm in rural western Shimane prefecture found five chickens dead in one place in its poultry house last Saturday, and a [...]

Benefits from poultry manure — no chicken feed

Cheap, effective: At present India produces about 6.25 to 8 million tonnes of poultry manure annually. A GOOD and fertile soil is often compared to a womb. Often farmers do not realize that a soil with poor fertility and poor yield are directly linked. “Except a few, there are many farmers in the country who do not show interest in testing their soil for micronutrient deficiencies. In general, farmers apply micronutrients only when crops show deficiency symptoms, while micronutrient deficiencies [...]
